Oh, you better believe it. First of all, I am completely aware I am not in need of getting the fat sucked out of me... but, I'm also not opposed to it. If you're all for it, or are just curious to learn more about this amazing procedure, keep reading.
So, what exactly is it? CoolSculpting is a fat-freezing procedure that is non-surgical, with no recovery time. It uses controlled cooling to eliminate fat cells by roughly 30%, after which point they are gone FOREVER! Can you even believe it?!
I had my first treatment on my “flanks” (which sounds worse for some reason than ‘love-handles’) but that’s what they call them. When you first go in for a consultation, they assess where you’d benefit the most from it, and ask you which areas you’d like to reduce body fat. Then you lay down and they put a rectangle vacuum-like attachment onto the areas, essentially sucking in your skin/fat and freezing it. Initially I was nervous and worried it was going to hurt or be uncomfortable, but I can honestly say it was more relaxing than anything. The technician at Lougheed Laser was amazing, as usual. She gave me a granola bar, and a clicker and I watched Dr. Phil for 35 minutes until her work was done. You definitely feel a chill, but I promise that it's far from painful.
According to the experts I talked to, you see the most significant difference in about 4 weeks. But I swear that I noticed a difference in 2 weeks. My first question was, of course, whether you actually lose weight from CoolSculpting. So, I’ll save you having to ask the same question: No. It’s technically referred to as ‘body-sculpting’, which isn't significant in terms of weight loss. Another thing to note is that if you are a leaner gal or guy, you can notice a big difference from the first treatment, whereas others may notice maximum benefits after 2-3 treatments. It’s a lot more simple than I thought it would be, and I'll keep you posted on the final results in a few more weeks!
